Dr. Gillian Hawker raises the dialogue on chronic pain

Dr Gillian Hawker at 2016 Toronto SummitDr . Gillian Hawker lit up the discussion at The Corporate State: Toronto Summit when the topic turned to the developments in the treatment of chronic pain. Participating on the “Unraveling the Brain” panel, she shared many insights into this rapidly developing field. 130 senior women executives learned from her at this sold-out 2016 Summit. Dr. Hawker, who returned to the Summit for the second time as a panelist, is a clinical epidemiologist/health services researcher whose research has focused on the care for people with osteoarthritis, in particular access to and outcomes of total joint arthroplasty.

Dr. Hawker has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and has served as a member of numerous academic and governmental advisory committees, including numerous CIHR peer review grant panels. She is the Sir John and Lady Eaton Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto, a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, and a Senior Scientist at the Women’s College Research Institute.
