The Imagination Catalyst: Petra Kassun-Mutch brings “things” from “Fab Labs”

Petra Kassun-Mutch
OCAD University

A dynamic women who lives up to her eye-catching title – Petra Kassun-Mutch is the Executive Director of the Imagination Catalyst (OCAD U’s new entrepreneurship and commercialization centre) at the Ontario College of Art & Design University whose mission is to launch new companies and commercialize products created by OCAD U students, faculty and alumni. Petra will join the “Fab Labs: Or, how to make just about anything on your 3-D printer” roundtable at the upcoming October 23 Corporate State: Toronto summit at First Canadian Place.

Petra is a self-confessed serial entrepreneur, social enterprise advocate and former publishing corporate executive (working in both New York and Toronto) with a passion for progressive sustainable enterprise design, and advancement of women and minority entrepreneurs.

In addition to her role at OCAD U, Petra serves on a number of boards including the Nature Conservancy of Canada and ZooShare, a start-up community bio-gas cooperative which converts zoo poo and food waste into energy.

Petra currently writes about entrepreneurship, innovation policy and social enterprise in her blog at www.zugunruhe.ca. Her experience at launching, financing, growing and operating a maker-based enterprise has resulted in a belief that “maker-facturing” is part of the solution to our current social, environmental and economic challenges.
