eLuxe’s Joanna Track and the Mystery of Motivation

Human behavior, although infinitely complex, is finding more of its explanations and determinants in genes and hormones. Some scientists hold that in the future, we will manipulate behavior via genes and hormones, and others claim that technology and environment will out. So just what is the “Mystery of Motivation” and how will making these discoveries impact business, hiring decisions, personal attraction, consumer spending, risk-taking and the stock market?

Joanna Track, Founder & CEO of eLuxe, will join the ‘Mystery’ panel at the upcoming Corporate State: Toronto CEO & Senior Management Summit on October 2 at First Canadian Place.

Joanna  has over 15 years experience in marketing, business strategy, branding and advertising.  After earning a BA in Mathematics at the University of Western Ontario and an MBA in Finance at Schulich School of Business, she worked in the marketing departments of a variety of companies including The Loyalty Group (AIR MILES) and Club Monaco, before landing at Ogilvy & Mather.  Joanna built a career at Ogilvy over six years, working on key global accounts, including Amex, FedEx and SAP, doing everything from Brand Advertising to Direct Marketing to Web. Her stint at Ogilvy took her to New York City, where she worked for a year as an Account Director and honed her skills as a marketer, before returning to the Toronto office in the same role.

Her entrepreneurial spirit grew strong and in 2004, Sweetspot was born.  Eight years, three web properties (Sweetspot, Sweetmama, Sweethome), and over 100,000 subscribers later, Sweetspot.ca was the ultimate destination for Canadian women to stay in the know about what’s new and fabulous in their city.  In July 2006, Rogers Publishing recognized this success and purchased a stake in the company, and then acquired the remainder of the company in late 2010.

Joanna has become one of the most well-known and respected digital entrepreneurs in Canada.  She will join fellow panelists Allison Sekuler of McMaster University, Donna Sturgess of Buyology Inc., Lisa Kramer from University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, Author Donna Fish and Moderator Mary Prefontaine of ICAN – Institute for Career Advancement Needs for this in-depth exploration of the driving forces behind motivation on October 2.

Registration closes Wednesday, September 26 for The Corporate State: Toronto! Call 212.580.5100 or email us at katherine@bedlamproductionsinc.com.
